How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH): A Pedagogical Approach for the Early Years

How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH) is Ontario’s framework for early childhood education, built on four foundational pillars: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. These principles guide Early Childhood Educators in nurturing the emotional, social, and cognitive development of children through meaningful learning experiences.

How ARTpath Aligns with HDLH

After completing an ARTpath workshop, younger students will have developed:

  • A stronger sense of belonging with their peers and the learning process!

  • Improved emotional well-being, finding healthy ways to express emotions through art.

  • Active engagement getting hands-on and creative with activities that make learning feel more like fun.

  • Confident Self-Expression of thoughts and feelings through art and discovering their unique voice.
